Republican and Democratic governors alike are attempting to spend down budget surpluses largely derived from COVID-19 relief assistance, and at least 20 states are providing one-time rebates or enlarged tax credits to assist residents in coping with inflation.
Relief Checks and Who Could Qualify for the
In California, depending on a person’s income, filing status, and dependents, the state makes inflation relief payments that range in amount from $200 to $1,050.
In Colorado, according to Colorado Cash Back, taxpayers can receive a refund of up to $1,500 for joint filers and $750 for single filers.
A one-time payout of $300 was available for each adult resident under the 2022 Delaware Relief Rebate Program, with couples receiving $600.
In Georgia, the maximum refund available to single taxpayers and married people filing separately is $250. Filers who are the head of household are eligible for a $375 maximum refund. The maximum reimbursement available to married people filing joint returns is $500.
Hawaii enacted legislation that offers refunds to residents who file their 2021 individual tax returns by December 31, 2022, or earlier. Depending on the taxpayer’s federal adjusted gross income and filing status, the refund can be either $100 or $300 per exemption.
Idaho is providing each taxpayer and dependant with $75, which equals 12% of their state income tax due.
Illinois passed a $1.83 billion aid package with several tax breaks. Tax rebates range from $50 to $100 per person and up to three children, for a total reimbursement of $400.
If an Indiana resident filed a tax return for the 2020 tax year with a postmark date of Jan. 3, 2022, or earlier, they should automatically be eligible for a refund.
Maine anyone earning less than $100,000, or less than $200,000 for a married couple filing jointly, is eligible for a rebate of $850, or $1,700 for couples.
Eligible taxpayers in Massachusetts will receive a credit in the form of a refund that is approximately 14% of their 2021 personal income tax liability.

Other Inflation Relief Checks
New Jersey’s refunds depend on whether you own or rent your house. Property tax rebates will be given to homeowners earning up to $150,000 in the amount of $1,500 and between $150,000 and $250,000 for $1,000. Renters who make up to $150,000 annually will receive cheques for $450.
New Mexico rebates of $500 for individual filers and $1,000 for joint filers, heads of households, and surviving spouses were given to all taxpayers.
Homeowners in the state of New York began to get property tax refunds of up to $1,050 in June, affecting nearly 3 million households.
Oregon’s one-time payment of $600 in aid was given to households. Without further action from residents, payment will be made automatically via direct deposit or check.
Pennsylvania awarded a one-time bonus rebate of up to $975 for renters, senior homeowners, and persons with disabilities.
The South Carolina Department of Revenue gave eligible taxpayers who filed by October 17 a one-time rebate of up to $800.
