The optimal time to choose a stimulus check payment, if you hadn’t previously, was on November 17.
But given that many other benefits have extended dates, stimulus payments are but one type of benefit. Many families could still be eligible for the EITC, the child tax credit, and several other benefits.
Available Stimulus Check in 2022
Families have already received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) informing them that anyone eligible for the payout must file their tax returns for 2021 and consider their available options.
The letter was published in both Spanish and English at the start of this month. It continues by giving a concise description of the three credits that are available to those who qualify for them.
These credits are the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit, and the Recovery Rebate Credit. It is important to keep in mind that the Stimulus payment and all credits are entirely distinct things.
It’s interesting to note that the American Rescue Plan Act and several other laws enhanced all of the credits and payments made under the stimulus program. But it should be clear that filing a tax return for 2021 is the only way to receive any of the benefits.
The IRS has previously advised around 9 million recipients of stimulus grants that they are still eligible to file claims for up to $3,200 in some circumstances. In fact, if a tax form was submitted before the end of the day, one may still claim their money.
The major goal of the stimulus check payment is obviously to help families maintain their financial stability during a very dangerous period in American history.

Smaller Tax Refund in 2022
The IRS warned that your refund for the 2022 tax year would be less than in previous years. The tax code has lately undergone several adjustments as a result.
The IRS announced that the ability to deduct charitable contributions will no longer be available to taxpayers who choose the standard deduction over itemizing their taxes. The reporting requirement for third-party networks that handle payments for persons conducting business was also dropped under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
A single transaction that is over $600 can now cause a 1099-K form, which is used by third-party networks. It used to take $20,000 in total transactions to start the form.
The IRS stated that it cannot release returns for people claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until mid-February because the law requires it to keep the entire refund to give itself more time to identify fraud.
Furthermore, several sizable refunds for tax years 2020 and 2021 were given out because people who hadn’t received their Economic Impact Stimulus Payments claimed them when they filed their taxes.
The IRS states that it is unable to update forms for people who use payment processors and receive 1099-Ks for non-taxable income such as personal gifts or reimbursements for personal costs. Instead, taxpayers must contact the issuer by phone.
Taxpayers may be eligible for a few newly added or extended tax credits, such as the Premium Tax Credit and the Clean Vehicle Credit.
As of Nov. 11, the IRS revealed that there were 900,000 unprocessed Forms 1040-X for revised tax returns and 3.7 million unprocessed individual filings it had received in 2022.
