Herschel Walker can now add claiming a Texas primary residence tax benefit to the long list of reports that will probably need him to provide an explanation in the last weeks of his campaign.
Republican Walker is presently receiving a tax exemption for a Dallas house he owns that only applies if the home is your primary residence, according to public documents, CNN’s KFile first reported Wednesday.
Could Herschel Walker be Disqualified From Georgia Runoff?
Following the commencement of his Georgia Senate campaign, he reportedly used the tax exemption in 2021 and 2022. The savings of about $1,500 in Texas are allegedly possibly in violation of both Texas tax laws and some Georgia laws on establishing residency for the purpose of voting or running for office.
The 2022 midterm election cycle will come to a close with Walker facing Democratic senator Raphael Warnock in a runoff election on December 6.
After residing in Texas for 20 years, Walker decided to register to vote in Georgia in 2021. To be eligible to vote and run for office in Georgia, a person must satisfy 15 requirements, not all of which must be completed.
These requirements include where the citizen receives their homestead tax exemption and where they intend to live permanently. The US Constitution only stipulates that a prospective senator must reside in their state at the time of election.

Homeowners in Texas who relocate may still be eligible for a homestead tax credit as long as they don’t build a “primary residence” there and intend to return to the state within two years. An inquiry for comments was not answered by the Walker campaign.
Since the beginning, Walker’s campaign has seen almost continual instability. Despite being a vehemently anti-abortion candidate, there have been numerous reports of his pressuring partners to have abortions, which he has denied.
Walker has boasted about owning businesses that do not exist and admitted to a history of domestic violence, among other things.
He has also said he is unsure whether evolution is real, denied being an FBI agent and a police officer admitted to lying about being a police officer and claimed to have graduated in the top 1% of the University of Georgia despite never having done so. He’s a habitual liar, his own campaign team claimed anonymously to the Daily Beast.
None of these alleged scandals was enough to defeat Walker’s campaign in November and hand Warnock an easy victory. The former Heisman Trophy winner, however, utterly failed to match the achievements of other top Republicans in the region.
Uncertainty exists regarding whether the most recent information regarding his out-of-state tax status will affect the runoff’s result. However, in Pennsylvania Democrats successfully defeated Mehmet Oz.
