California Inflation Relief Payments: Here’s When You Can Receive Your Check!

Taxpayers in California have begun receiving payouts for inflation relief this month. According to how it’s being billed, the Middle-Class Tax Refund may total up to $1,050, depending on your household size, residency, filing status, and income.

The payment is a part of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s $12 billion relief program, which he claimed puts a priority on putting money back in the pockets of millions of Californians who are struggling with global inflation and rising prices.

Who is Eligible for California Inflation Relief Payments?

According to the Franchise Tax Board, as of October 20, around 3.5 million Californians had already received their payments via direct deposit. The following details about California inflation relief checks include who is eligible, how much they can get, and how payments are made.

Residents who made $250,000 or less on their individual tax returns or $500,000 or less on their joint returns as a couple are eligible for a rebate.

However, residents must also have filed their 2020 tax refund by October 15, 2021, in addition to meeting the income standards. You must still be a resident of California on the date the payment is made and must have spent at least half of the 2020 tax year there.

Anyone claimed as a dependent by another person during the 2020 tax year, as well as single filers who made more than $250,000 and married couples who made more than $500,000 collectively, are ineligible.

Residents must have resided in California for at least six months during the tax year of 2020 to qualify. They must also have submitted their income tax returns for the year 2020 before October 15, 2021, and they cannot have claimed a dependent during the tax year. Those who want to receive the payment must also be current residents.

The third batch of debit cards that were sent by mail started to arrive on Sunday. In October, almost 90% of direct deposits were anticipated to be made, and by the end of the year, 95% of direct deposits and debit cards are anticipated.

The program has provided benefits to more than 17.2 million California taxpayers and their families, and the state has distributed more than 6.7 million direct deposit payments and 2.56 million debit cards totaling more than $5 billion.

At the earliest, on October 24, and at the latest, on November 19, payments began to be made to people having last names beginning with A-M. The payment period for those whose last names begin with N to V is from Sunday until December 3. Receivers of non-Golden State Stimulus funds with last names M–Z will get their final payment on December 31.
