After widespread resignations from Twitter employees in response to an ultimatum from new CEO, Elon Musk, the company’s offices are being closed and employees’ badge access is being removed.
Elon Musk told Twitter employees on Wednesday that they could either accept the company’s “very rigorous” culture, which involves “long hours at high intensity,” or they could resign with severance pay.
Twitter Employees Resign
Employees at Twitter who refused to sign the commitment would be given three months’ worth of severance compensation. The workers had till Thursday to make a choice.
Before the deadline, Elon Musk and his advisers spoke with “critical” Twitter workers to persuade them not to go. However, hours before the deadline, hundreds of resignations started to come in.
One of the most significant issues the firm has encountered since Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion was the mass resignation. Musk has already let go of some of Twitter’s senior executives and the employees who disobeyed him, cutting the employment in half.
Without giving any justification, Twitter afterward sent out an email announcing that its office buildings would be shuttered and that employee badge access would be restricted until November 21.
Similar to earlier this month’s major layoffs, the corporation shut down its offices owing to safety concerns and an apparent worry that departing employees could try to harm the business as they left.
With three months of severance compensation, hundreds of Twitter employees appear to have made their exit decisions. Elon Musk previously stated that the “extremely hardcore” overhaul will be a strategy to increase the company’s level of competitiveness.
However, taking this measure would also present a chance to further reduce expenses and fire the dissatisfied employees. There are concerns about how Twitter will continue to function efficiently in the wake of the widespread departure.

According to five sources, Musk has hired engineers and managers from some of his other businesses, including Tesla, many of whom are still learning the ins and outs of the social media platform.
Twitter, which no longer had a communications division, and Musk have not yet responded to this. However, immediately after hearing about the most recent mass departure, Musk made jokes about buying the social network firm.
In addition to the internal conflict inside the business, Democratic Senators demanded that the Federal Trade Commission look into any consumer privacy violations since Elon Musk took over Twitter.
The surviving engineers have mostly been charged with maintaining the site’s stability after Elon Musk opted to terminate a big portion of the employees responsible for maintaining Twitter’s code base.
The majority of the time spent by the remaining staff members will be spent dealing with Musk’s decisions to launch new features and products rather than maintaining what is currently in place.
