The Batman 2 Release Date: It Still Take 2 Years to Announce?

The movie takes place just two years into Bruce Wayne’s fight against the superstitious and cowardly criminals of Gotham. It shows him going up against The Riddler, his biggest enemy so far.

Batman is pushed to his limits by this serial killer who is obsessed with puzzles. Can the Man with the Cape win? Well, we’re not telling. What good is a riddle if everyone already knows the answer?

Still, if you’re here, it means you’re looking for something else. You want to know if there will be a second part. So, you’re in the right place. Here’s what we know about when Batman 2 will come out. Before you read on, though, you should know that there are spoilers for The Batman below, so make sure you’ve seen the movie first.

The Batman 2 Release Date

Variety predicts a 2025 release date for Batman 2.

The allegation comes after James Gunn and Peter Safran were introduced as the new co-CEOs of DC Studios, with many wondering what the future holds for the series.

“Writer-director Matt Reeves has yet to deliver a finished script, so [The Batman 2] will not enter theatres until 2025 at the earliest,” the outlet stated.

Reeves is presently working on the script with Mattson Tomlin and just inked a significant agreement with DC Studios to produce the “Batverse”, which already has a number of spinoffs in the works, such as The Penguin and Arkham Asylum series.

Producer Dylan Clark also promised a faster sequel. Speaking to ComicBook’s Brandon Davis, Clark said: “I will go on record and predict that it will be less than five years.”

The Batman 2 Release Date

Batman’s path to theatres was rough. Matt Reeves directed the solo Batman film, formerly a DCEU project with Ben Affleck. Now that the basics are in place, the stage is set for an amazing adventure.

The Batman 2 Plot

A follow-up to The Batman could go in a few different ways. The first and most obvious is that The Riddler makes friends with a certain Arkham prisoner at the end of the movie.

Even though nothing is certain, it doesn’t take the best detective in the world to figure out who that person is probably. Then again, that’s how he usually acts.

Pattinson has said he’d like to adapt Death in the Family, in which this character plays a big part, so maybe this will pay off in the next movie? Still, The Batman surprised us by going in a different direction than we thought it would, so maybe we won’t see Batman fight you know who.

The Court of Owls and Bane are two other parts of the story that could be used in a sequel. During The Batman, there are several references to the Court of Owls, as The Riddler tries to show how corrupt Gotham is at its core.

Scot Snyder and Gregg Cappulo’s story arc that introduced the Court went into this idea in depth and showed that the Owls had always had a hand (or Talon) in Gotham.

Even though The Riddler was angry at those who were eating Wayne’s Renewal Project corpse, it’s possible that some of the Gotham elite he went after were members of this secret society and he didn’t even know it.

Maybe the villain’s attack has made things so bad that the Court thinks it needs to take action and get rid of a sharp-eared vigilante who is messing with their business.

The Batman 2 Release Date

Bane is the last loose plot thread. You may remember him as the big, strong guy who helped Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman) in Batman and Robin or as Tahlia Ghul’s masked muscle in The Dark Knight Rises. Even though Bane isn’t in The Batman, it looks like the drug Venom that gives him superpowers is.

In the last fight scene, when Batman is knocked out, Bruce is seen struggling to get up. He is desperate and out of options, so he injects himself with a green liquid that gives him his strength back but also makes him very angry. Gordon and Catwoman have to convince him to stop beating up the bad guy.

This drug is a lot like Venom in a lot of ways, and it seems to be the super steroid of the Batman universe. It’s possible that the next Batman movie will use parts of Batman: Venom, in which the hero struggles with drug addiction, or that it will just be a teaser for a full-fledged Bane appearance.

The Batman 2 Cast

When Batman 2 comes out, Robert Pattinson will, of course, play Bruce Wayne/Batman. Lieutenant James Gordon, played by Jeffrey Wright, and Alfred Pennyworth, played by Andy Serkis, will probably be back. Zo Kravitz might come back as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, but the character has moved away from Gotham City to Blüdhaven, which is where Nightwing will live in the future.

The Penguin, played by Colin Farrell, will be seen next in his HBO Max show. He or she will be out to make a name for themselves in Gotham’s criminal underworld. Paul Dano could play The Riddler in a smaller role behind the bars of Arkham Asylum, where Barry Keoghan would play his new friend “Unseen Arkham Prisoner,” also known as The Joker.

The role of the latter was only hinted at the end of The Batman, but the film’s tie-in website Rataalada has revealed a cipher that suggests they will work together again in the future.

The Batman 2 Trailer
