Netflix is just like the rest of us in that they enjoy a good twisting thriller. This time around, the streaming service has provided us with a brand new miniseries that goes by the name of Echoes.
In it, there are two identical twin girls who change identities behind their parents’ backs, and their lives are thrown into chaos when one of them disappears.
As was stated, the program has been promoted as a miniseries, which suggests that there is a possibility that there may not be a second season.
Having said that, there is a significant amount of material to draw from still following the shocking cliffhanger, and limited series continue to return on a regular basis. You only need to ask the characters in Big Little Lies or The Flight Attendant.
Join us here at Digital Spy as we discuss the upcoming second season of Echoes on Netflix and disclose everything you need to know about it.
Echo Season 2 Release Date
For more details, we will have to hold off until the second season of Echoes has been officially announced. On the other hand, if a second series is announced in the near future, we anticipate that it will premiere sometime in 2023.
Echo Season 2 Plot
At the conclusion of Echoes, twin sisters Gina and Leni flee their childhood home as their father, Victor, perishes by fire within. Gina is eager to escape Leni after learning that she has attempted to exert control over her from childhood.
Leni murdered Dylan to fulfill her ambitions, which is why she is not yet prepared to let go of Gina. Leni admits that their father actually drowned their mother in the bathtub when they were little during a fight between the two in a river. Gina then reveals that her mother was terminally ill and desired to die on her own terms prior to her passing.

Gina, disgusted with Leni, resolves to re-enter the waterfall and ostensibly commit suicide. Since no corpse is ever discovered, she is believed dead. Leni finally flees to the airport using Gina’s phony passport because she is now under suspicion of the death of a guy in a church many years ago.
However, before boarding her journey to Australia, Leni discovers that a woman who resembles her boarded an aircraft earlier that week.
Does this then imply that Gina is alive? During her time as Leni, Gina studied to become an accomplished diver, which would have been extremely useful at the base of that waterfall…
At the conclusion, Charlie narrates a passage from his new book at a reading in which he describes his messed-up interactions with the twins.
Someone, maybe Leni or Gina, then appears wearing a large hat and sunglasses, as is customary when attempting to appear mysterious.
The woman in question asks Charlie if the police ever located Gina’s body, before entering Charlie’s home to resume their talk. Or so we believe.
The woman denies that she was the same person that attended his book reading, but she could be lying. The twins are accustomed to exchanging positions.
The enigmatic woman then indicates that she still has something “many scores to settle. Beginning with yourself, Charlie.” Dun dun dun!
Who visited Charlie, then? Or, was it Gina or Leni? And does this indicate that both of them have returned, or did one of them vanish for good?
If Echoes remains a limited series, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever find out, but if enough people wind up watching, perhaps answers will emerge in an unexpected second season.

After all, Netflix could simply convert Echoes into an anthology series with each episode focusing on a different twin relationship to sequelize it without breaking the miniseries framework. The Sinner succeeded!
