Let the Right One in Cast: Is It Suitable for Children?

John Ajvide Lindqvist wrote Let the Right One In in 2004. It’s a horror story about Oskar, a little child who befriends a vampire his age. Eli was changed into a kid vampire years ago. She lives alone with Hakon, who helps her get human blood.

The book has been adapted for film and stage. Let the Right One In was a 2008 Swedish film. Lina Leandersson portrayed Eli, Kre Hedebrant Oskar, and Per Ragnar Hakon. Lindqvist says “Let the Right One Slip In” inspired the title.

When the English-language adaptation came out in 2010, the creators felt the original title was too long and wanted to shorten it to “Let Her In.” This derives from the old vampire folklore that vampires cannot enter a home without being allowed inside.

Lindqvist suggested Let Me In since it’s about creating trust in relationships. He said a vampire revealing their actual identity was equally deadly as unintentionally inviting one inside. This version starred Chloe Grace-Moretz, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Richard Jenkins, Elias Koteas (Goliath), and Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why).

A&E and TNT discussed a TV series in 2015 and 2016, but it never happened. Showtime ordered a pilot in March 2021 and 10 episodes by September.

Andrew Hinderaker (Penny Dreadful) wrote the pilot and remained as showrunner and executive producer, along with Seith Mann (Homeland).

They use Morse code to converse with one another across an adjacent wall that separates their apartments. Eleanor shares her home with a guy named Mark (Demián Bichir), who is responsible for providing her with the life-sustaining blood that she must consume.

When Mark’s attempts to collect blood don’t go as planned, which brings attention to the increase in reports of people going missing and attempted attacks in the neighborhood, suspicions are raised about what might be going on.

Because he is unable to supply her with the blood, she is compelled to go out and hunt for it on her own, which can lead to some… unpleasant results.

A couple of words in the trailer suggest that Mark and Eleanor are actively searching for the vampire that turned Eleanor many years ago.

This would indicate that the plot seems to take a minor divergence from the originals in terms of its overall structure. “If you can locate the cause, you can find the treatment.”

It would appear that the two of them are trying to find a solution to cure Eleanor’s ailment rather than simply surviving and living a low-key life in order to avoid discovery. This would be a better strategy. You can judge for yourself by watching the trailer up there.

Even if it is just a teaser, at least we get to see how those fangs work. The only thing that’s left to think about at this point is whether or not any of the other characters that are going to be presented in this next series will be allies or adversaries.

Most importantly, what are they going to do if they locate the older and more powerful vampire who was responsible for Eleanor’s creation?
