The first “Dune” movie directed by Villeneuve was released in October 2021 and went on to win six Academy Awards in addition to raking in more than $400 million at box offices all around the world.

In the second part of Frank Herbert’s novel “Dune,” published in 1965, the protagonist, Paul Atreides (Chalamet), teams up with the Fremen to seek revenge for his family.

“Dune: Part Two” will cover this portion of the story. Princess Irulan, played by Pugh, will be one of the new characters, along with Harkonnen heir Feyd-Rautha, played by Butler; Shaddam IV, played by Walken; and Lady Margot (Seydoux).

At the Toronto Film Festival in 2021, before the second film had been officially greenlit, Villeneuve told Variety that a sequel would be “an insane playground for me.” He was speaking before the second film had been officially greenlit.

Villeneuve has stated that the upcoming second installment is going to be “simply like pure cinematic delight.” “I don’t want to speak for everybody on the crew, but what I would say is that we truly developed in this movie a feeling of family, and to re-unify everybody again, that would be heaven.
