Twelve new drag queens will compete for the title of UK’s Next Drag Race Superstar when the reality TV series RuPaul’s Drag Race the UK returns to our screens in September. Ten weeks from now, they’ll have to keep RuPaul, and the other judges (Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, and Graham Norton) impressed if they want to keep their spots in the competition.

Black Peppa
Black Peppa, born on the island of Saint Martin, plans to bring some “Caribbean flavor” to the Drag Race UK runway. Peppa is a restaurant chain based in Birmingham known for its “high gloss” cuisine. When thinking of a drag moniker, she looked to the original Peppa Pig for ideas. She went on to say, “Peppa pig is the OG,” which is why “Black Peppa” is her “twist” on the character.
Copper Topp
Copper Top, a native of Cheltenham Spa, finds her muse in British camp luminaries like Julie Walters, Victoria Wood, and the Cheeky Girls. Copper has appeared in several bingo commercials and is famous for her “camp and physical” drag shows.
Cheddar Gorgeous
This woman calls herself the “Queen Bee of Manchester,” hoping to establish a name for herself in the contest. Cheddar, a drag queen with a strong reputation in the cabaret scene of her hometown, has been practicing the art of the drag queen act since she was a teenager when her love of science fiction began to transform her into a “living spectacle.”

Danny Beard, from Liverpool, is competing in Drag Race UK to become known as the stubbly Scouse phenomenon for her signature beard style. Danny, who serves up a style reminiscent of the club kids, calls herself a “sassy, shady, singing cartoon clown” who enjoys “mixing genders and putting them in the blender.”
Dakota Schiffer
Sussex-based Dakota Schiffer is the first transgender person to compete on Drag Race UK. Dakota’s early exposure to drag helped her develop her stage presence, influenced by 1960s and 1990s high fashion.
