To provide some background, Mariah discussed the definition of the word “diva” when appearing on Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, which is centred on various stereotypes associated with women.
As Meghan mentioned, the name initially originated from the Latin word for goddess; but, over the course of time, it has become used in a derogatory sense.
During the course of the conversation about the dual nature of the phrase, Mariah commented to Meghan, “You give us diva moments sometimes.”
Upon being questioned over these alleged “diva moments,” Mariah responded, “The visual, a lot of it’s the visual.”
“Let’s imagine that you weren’t so beautiful and didn’t have the whole thing and didn’t often have stunning ensembles — you wouldn’t maybe receive as much ‘diva’ stuff” “Let’s pretend that you weren’t so beautiful and didn’t have the full thing and didn’t often have gorgeous ensembles.”
Meghan later revealed that she originally found it a little bit shocking to be dubbed a diva by her teen idol, adding, “I don’t know about you, but it stopped me in my tracks when she called me a diva.”
Meghan was referring to the fact that she was called a diva by her childhood idol, Taylor Swift.
“I began to perspire slightly, despite the fact that it was obviously impossible for you to see me because of the distance between us.
She proceeded by saying, “I started wiggling around in my seat in a muted display of disobedience.”
[Citation needed] She wiggled around in her seat in an understated display of rebellion at the authority figure.
“When she said that, my head was just spinning around in circles trying to figure out what kind of filth [Mariah] must have read or been exposed to online for her to say something like that.
If I’m being absolutely honest, when she said that, my head was just spinning around in circles.
When that happened, the only thing I could think about was whether or not the crush I had on that girl was going to stop all of a sudden and in a way that was completely unexpected.
Is it even remotely possible that she is ignoring what I’m saying to her?”
“She didn’t waste any time getting to work to make sure I had all the information I needed, and I am very grateful to her for making the effort.
According to Meghan, “when she referred to me as a diva, she was referring to the way that I dress, the posture, the clothes, and the ‘fabulousness’ as she views it.”
This information was provided by the Duchess of Cambridge. The Duchess of Cambridge was kind enough to supply us with this information.
“She wanted it to come across as ‘chic’ and ‘aspirational,’ and that’s how it turned out,” or “that’s how it turned out.”
Even though she meant it as a praise when she referred to me as a “diva,” I took it as an insult when she used the phrase.
It is easy to understand why Meghan would be somewhat sensitive to the term “diva,” given that the British tabloids have consistently attempted to use the term “diva” as a weapon against her throughout the course of her career in the entertainment industry.

To ensure that there was no misunderstanding, Mariah later specified on Twitter that the comment had been intended as a compliment:
My conversation with the Duchess and Diva Meghan Markle about “The Duality of Diva” was a real treat.
Yes! I referred to her as a diva in the sense that is synonymous with being the most wonderful, gorgeous, and empowering possible.
