Daniel Radcliffe stars as the legendary “Weird Al” Yankovic in the biopic The Al Yankovic Story, which tells the story of his ascent to fame.
On August 29, the official trailer was released, and it provided a sneak peek at all of the bizarre and outlandish adventures that are still to come.
Weird Al’s life is permanently altered the moment he “makes up fresh words to a tune that already exists.”
In the Weird Al biopic, Evan Rachel Wood and Daniel Radcliffe play key roles. Weird Al has an encounter with Evan Rachel Wood’s portrayal of Madonna, who at one point knocks on Weird Al’s door.
She inquires as to whether or not he intends to create a spoof of her song “Like a Virgin.” They finally conclude their encounter by making out passionately in his mansion.
At one point in the show, Weird Al’s manager, Dr Demento, is heard saying, “I think Madonna’s a horrible influence on you.” Odd Al’s life begins to spin out of control, and he is forced to retrace his steps to get back to being weird.
To play Weird Al, Daniel goes through a radical change in appearance. The actor who previously appeared in the Harry Potter films is not holding back in the least and seems to be having a great time with this part.
In addition, Rainn Wilson plays Dr Demento, Quinta Brunson portrays Oprah Winfrey, Julianne Nicholson plays Mary Yankovic, and Toby Huss plays Nick Yankovic. The cast is rounded out by Toby Huss as Nick Yankovic.
According to the plot summary for the movie, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story tells the “unabridged factual story about the greatest musician of our time.”
Al defied the expectations of his childhood, in which playing the accordion was considered a mortal sin, and went on to achieve his goal of altering the lyrics of well-known songs from throughout the world.
An overnight sensation and a sex icon, Al leads a reckless lifestyle and is involved in a scandalous relationship that comes dangerously close to destroying him.
The original Weird Al, along with the film’s director Eric Appel, contributed to the screenplay. Weird Al has been quoted as saying to The New York Times that the script is “sort of stupid.”
It’s just a lot of joy to see these world-class performers perform with such ridiculous material. I just can’t believe that we are going to be able to do this. I just can’t.
