On June 12, 2022, at the Tony Awards, Jennifer Hudson achieved an EGOT for the first time when the musical production A Strange Loop, which she produced, won the award for Best Musical. Now, the 40-year-old actress and singer is flaunting her Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards in a picture that she posted to Twitter and Instagram. She posted a snapshot of herself on August 26 with the caption, “Look what arrived yal!!” accompanying the image of her beaming broadly while holding her brand new Tony. Jennifer took her spot next to a grand piano on which her three additional trophies were displayed so that they could all be viewed by the audience. The photograph was brightened by Jennifer’s appreciative grin, and she looked stunning in a ribbed, long, purple dress with buttons down the front. She accessorised with two gold necklaces and pulled her long hair back into a ponytail at the back of her head.
In a video posted on Instagram on the evening of the Tony Awards, Jennifer revealed her unfiltered reaction to the news that she had achieved the EGOT status. In a private area, she stood there with a champagne flute in her hand and declared, “Just like I said when I won the Oscar, watch what God can accomplish.” She said with a tone of modest elegance, “Well, He done did it again!” just before she clinked her glass with those of the other people in the room.
She continued to convey her appreciation by writing it out in the video’s caption. “Wow !!! “I am still processing this whole new ground, and I am overjoyed by the outpouring of love and support that I am still receiving,” she wrote. “I am overwhelmed by all of the love and support that I am still receiving.” “What a wonderful privilege! I am grateful to each of you for accompanying me on this adventure. Without you, I would be unable to continue living this life. To paraphrase what I stated when I accepted my Academy Award, “see what God can do.” That makes two times in a row!
Jennifer is one of only 17 individuals who have ever been honoured with all four of these coveted honours. Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn, John Legend, and Andrew Lloyd Webber are just a few of the notable people who have received this honour. She is only the second Black woman in history to receive this award, and she is also the second youngest person in history to gain EGOT rank. Since John was only 39 years old when he won his first award, he holds the record for being the youngest performer ever to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

Jennifer’s first step toward EGOT status came in 2007 at the Academy Awards, when she was awarded the trophy for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Dreamgirls. This victory marked the beginning of her journey to EGOT status. It is her very first and only nomination to date, and she ended up winning. Jennifer Hudson’s self-titled album brought her the first of her three Grammy Awards in the category of Best R&B Album in 2009. In 2017, she was awarded her second Grammy for her work on The Color Purple, which took home the trophy for Best Musical Theater Album. The following year, in 2021, Jennifer was honoured with an Emmy Award for her work as a producer on the show Baba Yaga. At the Daytime Emmys, the virtual reality cinematic experience took home the award for Outstanding Interactive Media for a Daytime Program.
