Blackburn arrived at the Songshan airport in Taipei while piloting a military plane from the United States of America. She was born and raised in Tennessee, where she currently serves as a Republican.

Notably, China asserts that Taiwan is a part of its territory and has threatened to forcibly incorporate the island into its territory if this proves to be required. In 1949, following a bloody civil war, the opposing forces went their separate ways.
However, Beijing interprets visits by foreign officials to Taiwan as recognition of Taiwan’s sovereignty.
