People who are currently residing in the community of Evanston, Illinois, have less than a week left to submit an application for a monthly payment scheme that will provide them with $500 each and every month for an entire year.
The programme, which is going to be called the Guaranteed Income Pilot Program, will select 150 applicants at random and give each of them a monthly payment of $500 that will be loaded onto a prepaid debit card. The lottery system will be used.
According to a press statement issued by the city of Evanston, funding for the programme comes from multiple sources, including $700,000 from the 2021 American Rescue Plan, monies from Northwestern University, and funds from the city of Evanston.
According to Mayor Daniel Biss, “These programmes give assistance with no strings attached, enabling recipients the opportunity to spend the monies in any manner that makes the most sense for them and their families.”

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the federal poverty line for people living in the United States in 2021 was set at an annual income of $12,880 for a household with one person and $26,500 for a home with four people. These figures did not include the states of Alaska and Hawaii.
Candidates have until August 29 to submit their applications for this programme, and the application process will begin shortly following the deadline.
