The FCT-IRS Promises to Participate in Active Interactions to Address the Concerns of Taxpayers

The Federal Capital Territory Inland Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) has committed to ensuring vigorous communication with taxpayers to resolve their concerns and has stated that this will be done shortly.

Mr Haruna Abdullahi, Acting Chairman of the FCT-IRS, made the commitment during the Forum of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

According to him, plans are currently being made by the FCT-IRS to engage in town hall meetings with the locals periodically to engage with them one on one; accordingly, we should meet with a significant number of people.

He said, “So, as part of the engagement process, we will surely engage directly at the town hall level. I think it is the modern method to engage people.” “So, as part of the engagement process, we will certainly engage directly at the town hall level.”

In addition to emphasising that the FCT-IRS places a priority on providing a prompt answer to the questions and concerns of taxpayers, Abdullahi stated that people can contact the agency for assistance by dialling the designated number, which is 07002200002.

If you call, there will always be someone to answer your questions because the service is available around the clock.

Additionally, we provide the email addresses you can use to get in touch with us at fctirs.gov.ng.

“The website is extremely engaging, and because we will continue to communicate with people, we have made it easy for them to do so through the various social media platforms.”

“The town hall meeting is a priority for us; it is something we want to formalise so that people will see us more and feel that we are there to assist them,” he said. “It is something we want to formalise so that people will see us more and feel that we are there to help them.”

He also mentioned that now that there is a USSD Code for Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), locals can verify their TIN by dialling the number *7737*22#. He explained that this was made possible by the new code.

In addition, Abdullahi stated that having direct communication with people of the FCT would enhance the provision of services and make a significant contribution to the elimination of systemic anomalies.

According to him, it will address the concerns of tax advisers who engage in unethical conduct by assisting taxpayers to doctor tax records and by concealing documents that are required to arrive at a fair assessment of tax dues. Specifically, it will address the concerns of tax advisers who engage in unethical conduct by assisting taxpayers to doctor tax records.

On the topic of TIN registration, Abdullahi stated that locals might take advantage of the strategic relationship between the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service and the Joint Tax Board (JTB).

He stated that the partnership’s objectives were to facilitate the process by which people of the FCT could easily receive their TINs, guarantee the delivery of services effectively, and encourage the convenience of conducting business.

“The new TIN has a single database, and it uniquely identifies each individual taxpayer in the country. Because of this, the individual can continue to use the same TIN even if they move from one state to another.

“Using this initiative, the Free and Confederated Territories of Africa have joined other states in the federation on the platform.

“In light of this new information, taxpayers in the FCT are reminded to take note that submitting a request for a TIN can now be done in either of these two ways.’

According to him, to submit a request for a personal TIN using a mobile device, the taxpayer must first download the JTB mobile app from either the play store or the apple store.

“Using the JTB mobile app, taxpayers may now register their personal details and generate their TIN without having to leave the comfort of their homes or offices,” the JTB said in a statement.

“This makes it possible for taxpayers to submit their requests for personal TINs via the website, which means they can do so from the convenience of their own homes or businesses.
