The hunt for missing Truckee adolescent Kiely Rodney, who was last seen near Prosser Reservoir 11 days ago but has yielded no fresh information, will be scaled back shortly.
After this week, according to Detective Josh Barnhart of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the agencies currently working on the investigation will come together to form a task force to exchange any new information.
Rather than having many persons working on the issue continuously, the agencies would take turns investigating tips.
After going to a party in the early morning hours of August 6 at the Prosser Family Campgrounds, which are located just outside of Truckee, a mountain town located 35 miles west of Reno, Kiely, who was 16 years old, went missing.
After Kiely’s phone was turned on for the final time at 12:33 a.m. on August 6, the police said there has been no indication of either her or her silver 2013 Honda CRV.
The phone had a signal near the water, but authorities say that does not necessarily mean the person was most recently close or in the water.

During the investigation, hundreds of law enforcement personnel, including agents from the FBI, conducted repeated searches at Prosser Reservoir on land, in the air, and on the water.
Volunteers have also been checking the nearby reservoirs of Boca and Stampede in addition to Prosser.
Posters with hundreds of missing people’s faces, written in both English and Spanish, have been set up in and around Reno and Lake Tahoe.
“Our search continues, and we are doing the best we can on positively pushing things,” said Captain Sam Brown of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department. “Our search continues.”
Brown stated that “our purpose has never changed from the outset, and that is to find Kiely Rodney.”
He urged everyone to hunt for anything that would provide a clue about the missing honours student who had recently graduated from a Truckee charter high school in June.
According to him, even volunteers exploring locations that law enforcement had already searched could produce different findings.

Following a press conference held on August 9, 2022, at the Truckee Donner Community Recreation Center in Truckee, California, concerning the disappearance of 16-year-old Kiely Rodni, those who care about her formed a prayer circle. On August 6th, Rodney was last seen close to the Prosser Creek Reservoir in the Truckee area.
Brown stated that detectives are not providing any specific information regarding the locations that law enforcement checked, other than to say that they examined the areas around the location of the party.
The way he put it was that “we don’t have a direction or clue of where to go anyway.”
The law enforcement officials who attended the party estimated that there were between 200 and 300 people there, but only a small fraction of them had come forward with any information.
