This week, citizens of Indiana, Chicago, New Mexico, and Maine will be the first to receive their Stimulus Checks from the federal government.
In Indiana, a new rule that was just recently enacted requires that any budget overages be made up for by providing tax credits to local residents.
As a result, those who file their taxes jointly will receive a $250 Stimulus Check, whereas single taxpayers will only receive a $150 check. By the end of September, all of the checks for the stimulus package will have been distributed throughout the state of Indiana.
The mayor of Chicago, Lori E. Lightfoot, stated that the cheques were distributed to more than 3,500 families in the city and that those families that were eligible to receive them started getting payments at the beginning of this week.
Since the payments do not satisfy the requirements to be considered gross income, there will be no impact on your tax refund for the year 2021 due to their presence. This is the amount of the tax credit for the Recovery Rebate for 2021.
There is no tax on the stimulus checks. Those who are eligible for the UBI will receive payments of $500 each year, which can be received either through direct deposit or a prepaid debit card.
In the state of New Mexico, residents filing their taxes as individuals would receive payments of $250 if their combined income was up to $75,000, while residents filing their taxes as a married couple would receive payments of $500 if their combined income was up to $150,000.
Checks for a total of 1.5 times that amount have been mailed to families in the state of Maine, and checks for 850 dollars have been handed out to people who are eligible for the assistance.
The office of the governor has stated that those who filed will receive their compensation by the middle of July.
Residents of Delaware who began filing their state taxes for the year 2020 in May were eligible to receive a “relief rebate” in the amount of $300.
Georgia
If you have filed both your tax return for the year 2020 and the tax return for the year 2021, you may be eligible for refunds based on the status of your filing.
Hawaii
Taxpayers in the state will receive reimbursements ranging from $100 to $300.
For the year 2020, citizens of Idaho are eligible for a refund of up to $75 or a decrease in their state taxes of up to 12%, whichever is larger.
Illinois
In Illinois, the state income tax and property tax refunds will be increased, and sales taxes will be temporarily decreased.
Indiana
Regardless of a person’s income level, every resident of the state of Indiana will get a cheque for a refund of $125.
Maine
Checks in the amount of up to $850 have been issued to households as a result of the budget surplus.
