“All taxpayers filing Form 1040, Form 1040-SR, or Form 1040-NR must tick one box answering either ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to the virtual currency enquiry,” the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) stated in a notice that was sent out in March.
The notice stated that “all taxpayers filing Form 1040, Form 1040-SR, or Form 1040-NR must tick one box.”
Taxpayers who submit Form 1040, Form 1040-SR, or Form 1040-NR are required to comply with this prerequisite. Those taxpayers who file any of the aforementioned tax returns are the ones who are expected to adhere to this guideline.
Everyone responsible for the requirement of paying taxes is required to abide by this guideline. It is expected that each and every taxpayer, not just those who participated in activities in 2021 that involved the use of virtual money, offer a response to the inquiry with their ideas and opinions. This response can be as short as one sentence or as long as a full essay.
