On Thursday, the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Program (P-EBT) administration in Tennessee was given an update by the Tennessee Department of Human Services, which detailed three new developments.
Beginning on July 30, P-EBT cards for the 2021-22 academic year will start to be distributed.
According to the records that were provided by Tennessee Schools regarding excused absences and closures for the 2021-21 school year, children are automatically enrolled in the program for the school year. This will take effect in August.
There is no need to submit an application; however, if the child does not already have a P-EBT card, please go to www.connectebt.com or call 1 (888) 997-9444 for more information.
A brand new EBT card will be sent to the child’s house if they have never been eligible for P-EBT in the past.
The funds will be added to the P-EBT cards of children who already have one of these cards in their possession.
According to TDHS, children who are eligible for the program will receive an amount of approximately $7.10 for each excused absence day related to COVID-19.
As the first day of classes approaches, Sweetwater schools have not yet signed a bus contract.
In addition, the DHS announced a P-EBT reconsideration process that will take place for the 2021-22 school year.
Parents who believe their children’s P-EBT benefits for the 2021-22 school year reflect the number of school meals missed because of COVID-19-related school closures or excused absences have the option to submit a reconsideration request through the P-EBT Parent Portal.
The date range for submitting requests is from July 22 to August 29. If the request for reconsideration is granted, the benefits associated with it are scheduled to be distributed in September.

Additionally, the Child Care P-EBT programme is now available to households that are enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (SNAP).
Children younger than six years old who are part of a family that participates in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and who may have skipped meals as a result of disruptions to their childcare that were caused by COVID-19 may be eligible for financial assistance through this programme.
This assistance may come in the form of food vouchers or gift cards. This aid may arrive in the shape of gift cards or vouchers for groceries.
An outbreak of the respiratory infection COVID-19, which has been linked to the pandemic, has recently occurred.
On July 28th, the benefits from the Child Care P-EBT will be loaded onto the SNAP EBT card that the household already possesses. This will take place on the same day.
The amount of money that will be given to each child will vary and will be determined based on the child’s age as well as the number of months that the family was eligible for SNAP benefits between August 2021 and May 2022.
The amount of money that will be given to each child will be determined based on the number of months that the family was eligible for SNAP benefits.
