The Pandemic Electronic Benefit Program (P-EBT) is currently being administered by the Tennessee Department of Human Services, which has announced three new developments regarding the program:
On July 30th, the beginning of the distribution process for P-EBT benefits that will cover the 2021-2022 academic year will take place.
Eligibility is determined by participation in the National School Lunch Program and regular school attendance about COVID-19:
are qualified to receive free meals through the National School Lunch Program or attend a school that participates in the Community Eligibility Program and falls under Provision 2 or 3.
Attended a school that was either completely closed or had its operating hours significantly cut for five days in a row.
During the 2021-2022 school year, students who had a COVID-19-related absence reported to their school were considered to be absent.
A press release stated that children are automatically enrolled based on the records provided by Tennessee schools regarding excused absences and closures related to COVID-19. This information was gathered from the school’s attendance logs.
Children who qualify will receive a payment of approximately $7.10 for each excused absence day in connection with COVID-19.
The total amount of P-EBT benefits is subject to variation.
If the child already possesses a valid P-EBT card, the benefits will be added to that card.
Please visit us at the following location or give us a call at 1 (888) 997-9444 if you need a new P-EBT card.
A brand new EBT card will be sent to the child’s house if they have never been eligible for P-EBT in the past.
Parents can view their P-EBT benefits, link their child (or children), verify or change their address, and sign up to receive text message notifications if they log in to the P-EBT Parent Portal.
The P-EBT Reconsideration Process for the School Year 2021/2022
Through the P-EBT Parent Portal, a Reconsideration request can be made by parents who believe that their child’s P-EBT benefits do not accurately reflect the number of school meals that their child has missed.
The press release stated that requests for reconsideration must be submitted between July 22 and August 29.
If the request is successful, the benefits of the reconsideration will be distributed in September of 2022.
P-EBT for Child Care (For SNAP Households)
Children under the age of six who are living in households that are eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and who may have missed meals as a result of disruptions in child care caused by COVID-19 are eligible for financial assistance through the Child Care P-EBT program.
This assistance covers the cost of the meals that the children would have missed.

Have a child who is younger than 6 years old and lives in a household that currently receives SNAP food assistance benefits.
The one-time payment for child care P-EBT benefits will be loaded onto the household’s existing SNAP EBT card on the 28th of this month.
The amount of Child Care P-EBT benefits that a family is eligible to receive will vary from case to case, depending not only on the child’s age but also on the number of months, between August and May, that the family received SNAP benefits.
