The federal government is unlikely to provide residents with additional stimulus checks in 2022 despite the economy’s persistent problems and rising costs for everything from homes and gas to eggs and bread.
The decision to take matters into their own hands and create their own stimulus checks is being made by some states, though. The states that are issuing stimulus checks are listed below.
California
According to CBS News, California residents will receive up to $1,050 in stimulus checks for “inflation relief.”
The $308 billion state budget proposed by Governor Gavin Newsom includes the payments.
The state is also waiving the sales tax on diesel fuel and giving people more money to help with their utility and rent bills.
Colorado
According to the Colorado Department of Revenue, state residents who filed their 2021 tax returns by June 30 will receive additional money.
Joint filers will receive $1,500 while single filers will receive $750.
Colorado Cash Back checks will be delivered to residents by September 30.
Delaware In May, Delaware will start sending $300 “relief rebate” checks to taxpayers. Joint filers will each receive $300. The one-time payment is funded by an overage in the budget.
Georgia
In Georgia, rebates are available in the amounts of $250 for single filers, $375 for heads of household, and $500 for joint filers. The funds come from a state budget surplus.
Hawaii
Hawaii residents will this year be eligible for a $300 tax rebate if their income in 2021 is less than $100,000 or $200,000 for joint filers.
Rebates are also available for dependents. Residents who earn more than those amounts will get a $100 lump sum payment.
Idaho
In March, Idaho started issuing checks. Depending on which is greater, the payments give each taxpayer and dependent $75 or 12 per cent of their 2020 state income tax return.
Illinois
Illinois is providing short-term reductions in sales taxes as well as rebates on income and property taxes.
Individuals making under $200,000 in 2021 will be eligible for a $50 income tax credit, while joint filers making under $400,000 will be eligible for a $100 credit.
Additionally, taxpayers are qualified for an extra $100 for each eligible dependent, with a maximum of three kids per family.
Indiana
No matter their level of income, all residents of Indiana will receive $125 rebate payments.
Maine
As a result of a budget surplus, residents are getting checks worth up to $850. The average amount per family is anticipated to be $1,700.
Jersey, New
Jersey, New To provide $500 payments to taxpayers who file taxes using a taxpayer identification number rather than a Social Security number, Gov. Phil Murphy has suggested allocating $53 million.
In the fall of 2021, the state had already authorized $500 checks for 1 million New Jersey residents.
North Mexico
All residents of New Mexico will receive a tax credit of $500, with an additional $250 available to those making less than $75,000 per year.
Minnesota
In Minnesota, front-line employees are eligible for a $750 one-time payment. The payments are subject to employment and income restrictions and are funded by a budget surplus.
