candidate for Wisconsin governor backed by Donald Trump, a former two-term lieutenant governor endorsed by dozens of lawmakers, and a state representative pushing for decertification of the state’s 2020 presidential election results were largely in agreement on most issues during their first debate.
Tim Michels, Rebecca Kleefisch, and Tim Ramthun, a state representative, faced off in a debate on Sunday, a little more than two weeks before the primary election on August 14.

A poll conducted by the Marquette University Law School at the end of the previous month indicated that Michels and Kleefish were in a close race, with the winner moving on to face off against Democratic Governor Tony Evers.
Michels has stated that he will not pursue decertification of Trump’s loss in Wisconsin as governor, even though Trump backs him and continues to push for it in Wisconsin.

When asked about the decertification process, Michels stated that it was not a priority. “The integrity of the voting process, lowering crime rates, and improving education are my top priorities.
This coming fall, I have to keep my attention fixed on the goal of besting Tony Evers, and that is exactly what we intend to do.
Kleefisch stated that she believed the 2020 election would be “rigged,” but that she would not attempt to decertify the results of the election.
At the end of the previous month, the Marquette University Law School conducted a poll that indicated that Michels and Kleefish were in a close race, with the winner moving on to face off against Democratic Governor Tony Evers. The results of the poll indicated that the race was very close.

Ramthun, the only candidate who has made decertification a central plank of his campaign, is the only one who has stated that he intends to make an effort to accomplish this.
He said, “I’m surprised I’m the only one,” and I found that statement surprising.
Biden’s victory in the state has been upheld even though there have been two partial recounts, numerous lawsuits, an audit conducted by an independent body, a review conducted by a conservative law firm, and an investigation conducted by a former justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court who was hired by Republicans.
On Sunday, none of the candidates presented any fresh evidence that widespread fraud had occurred.
