On July 13, the senior IRS officer and Commissioner of CGST for the Chennai Zone, S. Ravi Selvan, was placed on administrative leave by the Union Ministry of Finance.
Ravi Selvan was given an instant suspension when the suspension order was issued, and for the time that he is on suspension, the CGST Kolkata Zone would serve as his primary workplace.
Sources claim that Ravi Selvan was placed on administrative leave while an Internal Committee investigates an allegation of sexual harassment filed by a female IRS employee between December 2021 and April 2022.
In response to this, the Ministry of Finance put a hold on Ravi On July 13, the senior IRS officer and Commissioner of CGST for the Chennai Zone, S. Ravi Selvan, was placed on administrative leave by the Union Ministry of Finance.

Ravi Selvan was placed on administrative leave as a result of this, and the Ministry of Finance is considering taking additional disciplinary action against him.
In a letter addressed to the head of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Ravi Selvan has expressed his denial of the allegations that have been made against him.
The complainant is accused in the letter that was written on June 18, 2022, of making a motivated complaint against him to dodge processes of misbehaviour that he had launched against her.
Ravi stated in his letter that he had been transferred out of the said office in July 2021 and that he had never worked out of the same building as the complainant at any point in time.
The complainant stated that an incident of harassment occurred in December 2021. However, Ravi stated that the incident occurred in July 2021.
Ravi Selvan has stated that the harassment complaint was filed to settle scores with him as a memo had been sent by the Assistant Commissioner (CGST) to the complainant in an alleged tax evasion case.

Ravi Selvan has stated that members of the Vishaka Committee were complicit in the tax evasion case, in addition to raising questions about the make-up of the committee itself.

TNM was informed by a source working for CGST that the memo was not distributed till the year 2022.
The woman claimed that Ravi Selvan withheld the information from her because he was afraid that she would file a complaint of sexual harassment. Selvan, and is currently considering taking more disciplinary measures against him.
The alleged tax evasion occurred in 2019, the complainant asserts that Ravi Selvan engaged in sexual harassment for the first time in December 2020, and Ravi Selvan communicated with the complainant via memo in February 2022 to initiate legal action against her in connection with the alleged misuse of Sabka Vishwas.
The claims were submitted to the IC by the complainant on May 25th, 2022.
