The United States and Saudi Arabia Have Signed 18 Agreements in the Fields of Energy and Other Sectors.

The Saudi Ministers of Energy, Investment, Communications, and Health have come to an agreement with their United States colleagues on 18 different issues.

The aforementioned accords open up new potential channels for cooperative endeavours in the areas of investment, energy, information and communications technology (ICT), space, and health.

The agreements are in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which is being spearheaded by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman and seeks expanded investment opportunities in promising sectors that can benefit the people of both countries.

There were a total of thirteen bilateral agreements inked during US Vice President Joe Biden’s visit to the Kingdom.

These agreements were negotiated with the Ministry of Investment, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, as well as several private sector enterprises.

They consist of a group of prominent American corporations, such as Boeing Aerospace, Raytheon Defense Industries, Medtronic and Digital Diagnostics, IKVIA in the healthcare sector, as well as many more US companies operating in the energy, tourism, education, manufacturing, and textiles sectors.

The Saudi Space Authority also signed the Artemis Accords with the United States Space Agency (NASA), which would allow it to undertake the joint exploration of the Moon and Mars in cooperation with the American space agency.

Additionally, the agreement would grant the Kingdom a seat in the international coalition that is preparing for the city exploration and use of the Moon, Mars, comets, and asteroids for peaceful purposes.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) recently signed a memorandum of cooperation with IBM, a leading digital technology company, to enhance the skills of one hundred thousand young women and men over the next five years as part of eight different innovative initiatives.

These initiatives have the potential to establish the Kingdom as a hub for technology and innovation in the Middle East and North Africa region.

MCIT also signed a memorandum of collaboration with the US National Communications and Information Administration (NTIA), which involves cooperation between the two countries on the development of 5G and 6G technologies.

The goals of this agreement are to quicken the pace of research, development, and innovation within the digital ecosystem of the Kingdom, as well as to hasten the expansion of the digital economy.

A partnership agreement on clean energy was signed between the Ministries of Energy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.

This agreement includes defining areas and projects of cooperation in this sector, alongside cooperation in civil nuclear energy and Uranium, while also reinforcing the efforts of the two countries in promoting clean energy and climate action.

In addition, an agreement of cooperation on public health, medical sciences, and research was signed between the ministries of health of Saudi Arabia and the United States.

The purpose of the memorandum is to maintain and strengthen existing relations in the field of public health between individuals, organizations, and institutions.

Additionally, it attempts to combine collective efforts in solving public health issues as well as medical, scientific, and research challenges, as well as the sharing of information, expertise, and academics.

The memorandum also wants to establish collaborative training for professionals in the health and medical areas, while addressing the appropriate application of health information systems, research and development, and health innovation.
