Trump Documentary “Unprecedented” Was Released Just Days Before the Next Hearing on January 6

Just days before the House Jan. 6 committee is scheduled to hold its next open hearing, the three-part documentary that followed former President Donald Trump in the run-up to and aftermath of the 2020 election was released on Sunday.

For the “Unprecedented” television series, director Alex Holder and his crew were given access to Trump and his family members throughout the final weeks of the election and the weeks preceding the attack on January 6.

Interviews with members of Trump’s closest circle focused on significant occasions, such as when Trump learned that Joe Biden’s election had been called and when he tested positive for Covid.

On January 6, Holder’s team was also filming at the Capitol, and the show features images of Trump backers trying to enter the structure through damaged windows.

The Jan. 6 committee subpoenaed the raw video of the interviews Holder had with Trump, then-Vice President Mike Pence, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, and Jared Kushner in addition to the video of the Capitol attack.

The committee also requested any video that concerned electoral integrity or fraud.

The emphasis of the panel’s upcoming two public hearings, scheduled for Tuesday morning and Thursday night, is anticipated to be the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol.

The committee is attempting to “shine a light on how that mob came to be there,” according to Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., a member who spoke last week on “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” on MSNBC.

In a sequence from the third episode, Pence is seen reacting in front of the camera to an email that requests that he invoke the 25th Amendment just days after the congressional draft resolution was sent out on January 6.

The documentary claims that Pence responds, “Excellent,” before ordering a staff member to print him a paper copy.

CNN was informed by a Pence spokesman in June that the vice president was actually responding to “a confirmation that his letter was issued to Speaker Pelosi rejecting her gambit to invoke the 25th amendment.”

The documentary claims that Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Pence all declined to talk about the incident on January 6 during their interviews for the show.

In the series, Trump claims in an interview that on January 6 there was “tremendous fury in our society” and that he will decide “in the not too distant future” whether to run for president in 2024.
