The families in Texas will not receive SNAP benefits until 2022, even though some have been seeking to renew their SNAP benefits since May.

According to Solo, it typically takes one day, and “they process it and get me some help right away,” according to KXAN. In this instance, though, she was instructed to wait 30 to 45 days and assumed she misheard.
With gas costing almost $5, Soloye claimed to have a three-year-old son. The Texas woman mentioned that she’s been “DoorDashing” to acquire groceries and gas money for her son.
Residents of the state get SNAP benefits through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).
As of June 26, there were reportedly 258,000 applications still awaiting processing, according to Tiffany Young, the agency’s assistant press officer.
To assure prompt access to crucial benefits, Young said the department is acting on the cases as swiftly as possible.
The press representative continued, mentioning how difficult it has been with the rise in applications and staffing shortages.
Young claimed that as a result of the expiration of several federal flexibilities and the resulting longer processing times, the workforce and workload issues that had existed throughout the pandemic had gotten worse in recent months.
The HHSC has sponsored job fairs to address the workforce deficit and help with recruitment.
Texas Gains from SNAP
According to a Friday announcement from Governor Greg Abbott’s office, SNAP payments in Texas have been extended for the entire month of July.
Abbott stated in a press release from his office that the HHSC is delivering more than $300 billion in food benefits for June, according to WFAA News.
According to the governor’s office, the additional allotments are expected to benefit more than 1.4 million households.
The Lone Star State’s families would have access to nourishing meals, Abbott said as he conveyed his gratitude to HHSC.
All SNAP households are expected to receive emergency allotments totalling at least $95; these funds will be in participants’ accounts by July 31. Since April 2020, the government has given more than $7.2 billion.
According to a news release from Texas HHS Access and Eligibility Services, Wayne Salter, the department is pleased to assist Texans in preparing wholesome meals for their families.

Several states, including Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Oregon, in addition to Texas, will continue to offer extra payments in July totalling at least $95 each.
According to MARCA, extra SNAP benefits are also anticipated to be released this month in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
The additional cash will be added to the recipient’s electronic benefits transfer card, which functions similarly to a debit card with the added restriction of only being used at approved retailers.
