Regardless of What Texas GOP Considers “Abnormal,” Gay People Have a Place in Trump’s Republican Party

Numerous LGBT Texas Republicans travelled to Houston over the past weekend to attend the Texas GOP convention with their party.

These convention-goers were unapologetically and ardently pro-America First, pro-God, pro-gun, pro-Trump, and fired up to elect a new wave of conservative Republicans up and down the ballot in November.

They were members of the Log Cabin Republicans, the nation’s largest organisation representing LGBT conservatives and their allies.

Many of them were relatively new Republicans who joined President Donald Trump’s party, coming out of the closet and risking the mockery of their liberal colleagues.

How did the local GOP react to these fresh grassroots supporters? by continuing to deny the Texas Log Cabin Republicans a booth location next to other groups and, at the last minute, sneaking wording into the state party platform that condemns homosexuality as an “abnormal lifestyle.”

More LGBTQ people are depicted on television in America, which is vital for our cause.

I could use my column as the national president of the Log Cabin Republicans to chastise the Texas GOP for its ineffective leadership or narrow-mindedness.

Fortunately, I don’t have to because I am aware that the Texas GOP is not merely in the wrong. They’re opportunistically on the incorrect side of the contemporary Republican Party.

Trump is a pioneer for LGBT inclusion.

It’s challenging to grasp how fundamentally altering Trump’s presidential campaigns and administration were for LGBT conservatives, who were suddenly welcomed as party members after decades of exclusion.

A huge move for a Republican, Trump claimed that gay marriage was a settled issue (and settled legislation, mind you). The majority of Republican voters now support marriage equality, up from the previous year.

On June 16, 2022, in Houston, there will be a cutout of Donald Trump at the Republican Party of Texas convention.

Trump-appointed LGBT conservatives, such as Ambassador Richard Grenell, to important positions in both his government and his campaign after publicly recognising them.

His reelection campaign created a formal LGBT coalition in 2020 and held “Trump Pride” events with prominent figures from the LGBT conservative community.

After leaving office, Trump kept up his record. He graciously allowed the Log Cabin Republicans to host our annual fundraising dinner at Mar-a-Lago last year, along with first lady Melania Trump.

Jan. 6 hearings: An honourable man demonstrates the “tragic parody” of Trump radicalism that the GOP is currently suffering from.

The Republican National Committee, following in Trump’s footsteps, established its own ” RNC Pride Coalition ” in 2022 to win over more LGBT voters.

To mobilise the LGBT vote for Republicans at a level that has never been done before, we are building on that relationship to increase our voter outreach and voter education efforts.

All things considered, the Texas GOP isn’t doing a very good job if it’s attempting to do everything it can to grow the Republican base and defeat the Democrats in 2022.

Donald Trump Jr. caught on. He said that rather than disbanding a group of conservative gays who were standing with us, the Texas GOP should concentrate its efforts on countering the extreme (Democrats).

Perhaps in response to the spike in radical leftist gender ideology that is taking over our campuses, Texas Republicans are banning LGBT conservatives.

Republicans in Texas might be shocked to learn this: As vehemently as they do, our members also oppose this radical gender culture war.

Please refrain from interfering with our parades: Do you want to keep LGBTQ Pride events “family-friendly”? That is a sharp wish.

Our group has vociferously backed Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Parental Rights in Education statute while denouncing Democrats for spreading false information about it. We object to schools introducing young children to sex and gender ideologies.

We consider it unfair to allow biological men to play sports for women. Because we disagree with the radical idea that sex and gender are irrelevant, we have been on the front lines of these battles, in contrast to LGBT activists on the left.

On June 16, 2022, in Houston, at the Republican Party of Texas convention, Elaine Wilmore of Cleburne, Texas, poses for a picture with Tex, a longhorn.

In other words, our members in Texas are just as committed to defeating the Democrats as their fellow Republicans are.

However, they have been informed that their party does not even want them to fight alongside them in the trenches.

GOP Wins With Inclusivity Even in Texas

Republicans in Texas are positioning themselves to play a losing hand in terms of LGBT inclusiveness. Just last week, Mayra Flores, a young Republican immigrant of Mexican descent, won a special election in a House district in Texas, turning the seat red in the traditionally blue area.

A Republican candidate with Flores’ level of diversity would have been uncommon ten years ago.

However, as a result of Trump and the GOP’s historic engagement with and investment in these communities, the GOP is attracting new members and winning elections in areas that previously appeared uncontainable.

Exit polling indicates Trump won more than 25% of the LGBT vote in 2020 while outperforming with Black and Hispanic Americans, according to the data.

No matter what Texas does, our members will continue to support conservatism and fight Democrats in any way they can. Texas Republicans don’t need to modify their principles to accept us. They just have to admit that we are already here.

The largest Republican group in the country that advocates for LGBT conservatives and allies are called the Log Cabin Republicans, and its president is Charles T. Moran.
