According to Howard Gleckman, senior scholar at the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, “the three of them together were significantly more than what the government had done before.”
The IRS and the US Treasury Department got speedier and more efficient with each stimulus check.
The IRS distributed 89.5 million payments over the first few weeks of the first stimulus check programme in 2020.
The IRS said on March 17 that it had already paid around 90 million payments after Congress approved a third stimulus check on March 11, 2021.
Gleckman added, “Overall, the IRS gets the credit.” “They just did an amazing job getting these checks out in such a tight situation.”
