Yellowstone Season 4 finished on an emotional note. It was only a matter of time after John (Kevin Costner), Kayce (Luke Grimes), and Beth (Kelly Reilly) survived a fiery militia attack before it was revealed Garrett (Will Patton) ordered it.
When Beth learned that the ambush was carried out by Jamie’s biological father (Wes Bentley), she was resolved to exact vengeance on the lawyer. While she did not carry out her threat to kill Jamie, she did force him into a corner.
But where does this leave the Dutton family? Fans of Yellowstone are eager to get their hands on the confirmed fifth season. Until then, here’s the latest on the blockbuster Paramount Network drama’s next chapter.
When Will Season 5 of Yellowstone Premiere?
Yellowstone has been extended for a fifth season! While no official launch date has been set, showrunner Taylor Sheridan has indicated that it will premiere in late summer 2022. Season 5 is set to begin filming in May, according to the creator.
Executive producer David Glasser was excited about the series returning in the fall of 2022 before Paramount Network gave it the green light in February. However, when actor Gil Birmingham, who plays Broken Rock commander Thomas Rainwater, confessed to E! News in April that the actors hadn’t “received the scripts yet,” fans became concerned about a possible delay.
Taylor, on the other hand, revealed behind-the-scenes details to Variety that would excite any Yellowstone fan. He revealed that filming for the show will begin in May and that there will be 14 new episodes instead of the customary 10. In addition, he revealed that Yellowstone Season 5 will premiere in August or September.
Season 5 of the Western drama didn’t come as a complete surprise to many fans, but it did take a bit longer to be unveiled. Since its premiere in June 2018, the series has been renewed for numerous seasons without fail by Paramount Network.
Yellowstone season 1 got renewed for season 2 in July 2018, just a month after it premiered. Yellowstone was renewed for season 3 the following year, only hours before season 2 began, in June 2019. The show was renewed for season 4 in February 2020, months before new episodes were released.
Season 5 of Yellowstone was officially confirmed by actor Cole Hauser, who plays Rip, in March 2021. He spoke candidly about what was going on behind the scenes at a virtual event.
“Right now, [showrunner and writer Taylor Sheridan] is working on it,” Cole explained. “Season 5 is going to be fantastic. I can’t say too much about how we closed season four because I don’t want to give too much away, but I believe the viewers will be pleasantly surprised.”

Most notably, actor Jefferson White will reprise his role as Jimmy Hurdstrom, while actress Kathryn Kelly will join the main cast as Emily, the chief veterinarian. Jimmy’s heartfelt departure before returning to the 6666 ranches with his fiancée will be remembered by Yellowstone watchers. Despite rumors that Jefferson would leave the show because he’d be the protagonist of the spinoff 6666, it appears that he’ll be sticking around for a while.

Meanwhile, there are other unsolved questions about the other characters that must be addressed as soon as possible. Will the disgraced attorney general be invited back to the table, or will he be utilized for bidding? Will Rip learn the real truth about Beth’s inability to have children? Will Kayce learn more about the meaning of his vision?
Is There Any Information on Yellowstone Season 5 Spoilers?

The fifth season of Yellowstone will begin with John campaigning for governor of Montana. Lynelle (Wendy Moniz) urged the Dutton patriarch to resign as Livestock Commissioner, as fans may recall.
Lynelle approached John about following in Kayce’s footsteps and becoming the governor’s successor after she was appointed. She had her sights set on the United States Senate, leaving the door open for him.
Despite his reservations, he eventually decided to accept her endorsement and announced his candidacy, beating Jamie to the punch. It was the only way, John reasoned, to keep Yellowstone safe from developers and investors.
Away from the office, John is reported to be pursuing Summer Higgins in a whirlwind affair (Piper Perabo). The environmental activist was initially seen leading a protest outside the Livestock Association offices. When she meets John, he bails her out of jail when she is arrested, and he invites her to the ranch.
Summer confronts Beth in the kitchen the next morning, brandishing a knife in her direction. Summer is arrested again, but this time the judge is adamant about her serving time in prison.
Despite this, actress Piper Perabo recently stated that her relationship with John will not be affected. It may, in fact, bring the two even closer together. Summer’s future with John was hinted at in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in February 2022.
“”On Yellowstone, the love story is picking up steam,” she told the outlet. “I know a lot of people like it because of the cowboys and the ranch, but I like it because of the love tale… We’re cranking the heat up a notch. Let’s turn up the heat for a minute because it’s been a rough couple of years.”

Even though Yellowstone airs on the Paramount Network TV channel, it is not available on Paramount+. (However, the prequel 1883 and spin-off 6666 are available to watch on Netflix.) Yellowstone isn’t available on Hulu or Netflix, either. Yellowstone marathons are constantly on the Paramount Network channel, so you can watch them live or record them on your DVR.
