The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Release Date: Where Is Mrs. Maisel Filmed?

When season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ended, we immediately turned our focus to season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Will the popular Amazon Prime Video series be renewed?

On Friday, March 11, the last two episodes of season 4 of Mrs. Maisel aired, and fans who want to see more of Rachel Brosnahan’s Miriam “Midge” Maisel, her will-they-won’t-they romantic interest, can watch them here. Lenny Bruce, Susie Myerson, the show’s wisecracking manager, and the rest of the show’s colorful cast are crossing their fingers that another season will arrive sooner rather than later.

In the meanwhile, programs like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will keep you occupied. Here’s everything we know about Mrs. Maisel’s season 5 so far.

Will There Be a Fifth Season of ‘marvelous Mrs. Maisel’?

Fans of Maisel, rejoice! On February 17, only a day before the first two episodes of season 4 broadcast, the series was renewed for a fifth—and, tragically, final—season.

In a statement regarding the renewal, Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, stated, “This series has meant so much to Prime Video, and the consequences of its success will be felt long after its final season.”

“I can’t wait for fans and our global Prime Video audience to appreciate every minute as we begin on the final chapter of this revolutionary and amazing series,” Salke concluded.

Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told Glamour(opens in new tab) about the possibility of a fifth season: “That decision was based on several factors. Amazon has a significant voice in the matter. They write the checks, therefore you have to pick up the phone when they call, according to them. We spent a lot of time and effort as soon as we realized it was the best course of action since the most important thing to me is that Midge has the proper send-off and treatment.”

Sherman-Palladino went on to say: “While we haven’t finished writing the last episode, we have a good idea of what the final picture will be. That entire bizarre, last four sentences of Gilmore Girls that became this weird sort of Sasquatch urban legend thing and all everybody wanted to talk about for a long time was something I’ve always enjoyed doing. But, for someone like myself, knowing what my endgame is essential… I’m aware of a lot of what’s going to happen in the last episode, but we have a lot of people to serve. These personalities, whether good, terrible, or unique, deserve meaningful send-offs.”

When Will Season 5 of ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Be Released?

Season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has yet to be given an official release date, and we’ll probably have to wait a little longer because filming on the fifth season only began in mid-February, according to series actress Rachel Brosnahan’s Instagram post(opens in new tab).

“We started filming Season 5 (!) of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel a few days ago. It’s a bittersweet situation. The band has reformed, and we can’t wait to share Season 4 with you, which will premiere tomorrow… It’ll also be our last time out “Brosnahan captioned the photo of a Mrs. Maisel screenplay posted on February 17th (plus a yummy-looking cookie).

Brosnahan went on to say: “Rest assured, our tits are up, and the last chapter is going to be a doozy. Keep an eye out for updates.”

It’s difficult to say when season 5 will be released to the public. Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, like many other TV and film projects, was substantially delayed by the COVID-19 epidemic, premiering two years after its predecessor. Mrs. Maisel’s seasons normally air once a year under normal conditions (do such still exist? ), therefore the fifth and final season may run in late 2022 or early 2023. (I’m crossing my fingers!)

Who Will Be in the Season 5 Cast of ‘Mrs. Maisel’?

There have been no official cast announcements yet, but there are a few essential individuals who you can bet will return for season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. First and foremost, Mrs. Maisel herself, Rachel Brosnahan.

You may expect to see Alex Bornstein (Susie), Luke Kirby (Lenny), Michael Zegen (Joel), Marin Hinkle (Rose), and Tony Shaloub in addition to Brosnahan’s Midge (Abe).

The show has a history of bringing in terrific guest performers, from Wanda Sykes to John Waters to regulars from the Amy Sherman-Palladino world, and some of them, like Gilmore Girls veteran Kelly Bishop, will return for season 5. Alfie Fuller, who portrays Susie’s receptionist Dinah Rutledge, and Jason Ralph, who plays talent booker Mike Carr (who is actually Brosnahan’s real-life husband! ), are both back in heightened roles.

Look out for newcomers Peter Friedman (Succession), Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Dad! ), Michael Cyril Creighton (Only Murders in the Building), Austin Basis (Supernatural), Josh Grisetti (Nurse Jackie), Chlo Kerwin (Asleep in My Palm), and Lucas Kavner (The Jim Jeffries Show).

What Happened in the Season 4 Finale of ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’?

Okay, first the major news: Midge Maisel and Lenny Bruce have finally completed their relationship after four seasons of painful sexual tension. But more on that in a moment.

Midge’s ex-husband Joel Maisel tells his father Moishe that his fiancée Mei is pregnant and Asian at the end of the final episode of season 4, causing Moishe to have a heart attack. Moishe spends most of the finale in the hospital, and each member of the extended family deals with the situation in their own manner.

Abe writes a passionate, though premature, obituary for Moishe in The Village Voice, believing he would die. Shirley, Moishe’s wife, tells Abe that if Rose dies before he does, she would be there for him. Midge transforms her sadness and anxiety into a remarkable stand-up show at The Wolford, where she performs, meditating on women’s courage in the face of men’s loss. Moishe recovers completely, but he does inform Joel that while he is glad for him and Mei, she must convert to Judaism before they can tell Shirley about the pregnancy.

After Midge’s performance, Lenny Bruce pays her a backstage visit at The Wolford, apologizing for his harsh, inebriated conduct in episode six. To makeup, he has suggested Midge as the opening act for Tony Bennett, as Lenny would be performing at Carnegie Hall the same night. However, they are stopped by a police raid and retreat to Lenny’s opulent hotel room, where, yep, the chemistry heats up and the clothes come off.

All goes well until Midge discovers drug paraphernalia in Lenny’s travel case, which he dismisses. Midge watches Lenny’s wildly successful Carnegie Hall performance after declining the Tony Bennett position because she wants Susie to arrange her headliner-only engagements. But Lenny isn’t pleased that Midge appears to be squandering major professional prospects due to her intransigence. “I promise you’ll break my fucking heart if you blow this, Midge.”

Midge is about to depart in the middle of a terrible snowfall. She misreads a billboard in the snow as “Go Forward.” It is, in fact, a commercial for The Gordon Ford Show. Is Midge going to do a talk show next season? Only time will tell if this is true.
