Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks Beat the Jazz to Move to the Second Round

On Thursday night, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Utah Jazz 98-96 in Game 6 of their first-round series. Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson each scored 24 points.

Mike Conley was called for traveling with five seconds left after Brunson scored a three-pointer from the corner, and Brunson made one of two free throws with 4.3 seconds left.

The Jazz had an open look at left winger Bojan Bogdanovic, but he missed, and the Mavericks advanced to the second round to face top-seeded Phoenix.

Doncic got nine rebounds, eight assists, two blocks, and two steals to go along with his nine points. Dorian Finney-Smith had 18 points, and Spencer Dinwiddie had 19 points.

Utah’s Donovan Mitchell finished with 23 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. Bogdanovic scored 19 points in the game.

For the first time since winning the NBA title in 2011, the Mavericks triumphed in the first round.

Finney-three-pointer Smith’s gave the Mavericks their most excellent lead of the game at 88-80. Still, the Jazz responded with an eight-point run, many of which came off hustle plays as Utah played desperate defense, culminating in a Mitchell-to-Gobert dunk.

In the third quarter, the Mavericks rediscovered their stride as the Jazz tried a variety of tactics but always seemed to leave someone alone below the arc. Doncic scored 10 points in the third quarter, and Dallas converted 8 of 12 three-point attempts, outscoring Utah 36-19.
