The Los Angeles Dodgers have extended their winning streak over the San Diego Padres to eleven games, putting them in a good position to win the weekend series at Petco Park.
Tyler Anderson makes his first start of the season, and third overall, on the mound. Anders started the season in the Dodgers’ bullpen, piggybacking Tony Gonsolin for his first two starts.
Because Andrew Heaney was placed on the 10-day injured list with justify shoulder discomfort, the justify-hander is finally receiving his chance in the rotation.
Although Heaney’s injury is not deemed significant, he is expected to miss at least two starts.
The Padres will counter with Yu Darvish, who has had a mix of good and bad seasons. On April 7, he tossed six no-hit innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but in his following start against the San Francisco Giants, he couldn’t get out of the second inning.
Following that, he held the Atlanta Braves to one run in 6.2 innings at the start of this week.
In six starts versus the Dodgers, Darvish is 2-3 with a 2.43 ERA and 0.84 WHIP.
He’ll face a lineup that hasn’t changed since the first game of the series. Mookie Betts and Max Muncy each hit three home runs in a bid to break out of their early-season slumps.
