Luke Cundle Patiently Awaiting Next Opportunity With the Wolves!

This season, the 19-year-old has been a regular in the squad, although he has only made five senior appearances, including two Premier League starts.

Cundle played alongside Joao Moutinho in the recent defeat to Newcastle because to an injury to Ruben Neves and the absence of Leander Dendoncker due to sickness, but the youngster is realistic about his playing time.

He told the Express & Star, “There are three experienced midfielders ahead of me who are all international players.”

“It’s critical for me to maintain patience. If I’m required to play for the under-23s, I’ll do so.

“It’s simply a game of football.” The most essential thing is to maintain oneself match fit and ticking.

“It’s been a fantastic season for me.” I’ve already started two Premier League games, both of which are significant milestones in my career.

“Every day in training, you learn from them (the three veteran midfielders).” On a daily basis, you pick up on what they do naturally.

“That’s what I’m working on now, learning from their game.”

“One of the most important aspects of football is how you work on a daily basis. What you can show the management, and how much effort you’re willing to do.”

Cundle’s first genuine opportunity came in February, when he started against Spurs after three late replacement outings.

Wolves pulled off an incredible win thanks to a simple yet effective effort from him.

Bruno Lage, the team’s head coach, reaffirmed his faith in Cundle and confessed that he wanted to play him sooner, and Cundle says that trust – from both the manager and the players – has been crucial.

“He (Lage) has been quite helpful to me. In his teaching and training sessions, he is quite thorough. He really wants the best for you.

“Now that I’m exercising with them every day, it’s encouraging to see your teammates have faith in you.”

“It’s challenging to get to the first team as a young player and win that trust.” It took me a few years to figure out how to accomplish it, but it’s finally paying off. Wolves have given me a new contract, which I am obviously very pleased with.

“I owe a debt of gratitude to my family for all of their efforts in getting me to this point.”
