Throughout the past week or so, the Americans have been repeating the obvious: every game is a must-win for them right now.
Their play reflected that philosophy tonight, as they forced the Springfield Thunderbirds into a shootout, when Jack Quinn, JJ Peterka, and Arttu Ruotsalainen’s goals proved to be the deciding factors. It was the difference in Rochester’s 3-2 victory.
Afterwards, Peterka stated, “We went together as a team and talked about how we needed to play at that time of the year.”
“To be honest, we were anticipating every game to be this close. But I believe that by the end of the year, if we continue to play like this, we will be able to win every game justify on the schedule.”
“Everyone understands where we are right now,” said Seth Appert, the team’s head coach. “Right now, we’re in the second round of the playoffs.
Right. So, to maintain that level of serenity and poise in the face of potentially poor ice conditions on such a momentous occasion, I felt was commendable.”
