Despite the circumstances, the team has performed admirably. The Blues are third in the table, comfortably in the top four race. For these reasons, Chelsea’s Brentford loss came unexpectedly after the international break.
The issue worsened after the humiliating home loss to Real Madrid. Worse, the outcome would have been different had certain players performed well. These games highlight the team’s instability.
Chelsea has shown it can compete, now it needs consistency.

Even if Arsenal’s loss to Crystal Palace helped them a lot, they can’t expect the same aid if they want to stay in the top four. Tottenham Hotspur has started to gel under Antonio Conte.
So a successful performance against Southampton was important. It was the same front three that won the Champions League in May. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, a midfielder, started as a right-wingback. Chelsea won 6-0 thanks to a superb performance.
This outcome boosted optimism for the next encounter, a comeback attempt at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Blues dominated Real Madrid in Madrid. Chelsea led 3-0 with 10 minutes left, securing a semifinal berth. After surrendering two consecutive goals to Los Blancos, the defending champions were eliminated in the quarterfinals due to defensive blunders and missed chances.
The fact that Real Madrid took full advantage of every opportunity will aggravate Tuchel’s team. Especially after a shaky first leg.
After Edouard Mendy’s blunder allowed Karim Benzema to score his hat-trick, Romelu Lukaku had two chances to equalize. After a N’Golo Kante error allowed the home team to score and force extra time, Christian Pulisic twice failed to win the second leg.
That was before Kai Havertz and Jorginho failed to score in the extra period. These errors could have been avoided or Chelsea would still be in the race.

But this has been Chelsea’s season. Awful luck and questionable VAR calls lost the Blues in the Carabao Cup final. Above all, Chelsea must be clinical in front of the goal. Lukaku was brought in to help the team’s goal-scoring problems, but he has only added to them.
During their tenures at the club, managers have lost their minds over little uncertainty. So Tuchel’s leadership style has been nothing short of amazing. The club and its new owners should fully support him. If Tuchel can get the team some luck, he can take Chelsea to the top.
