After testing positive for COVID, Paul George will miss Friday night’s play-in game for the Los Angeles Clippers. The game on Friday night against the New Orleans Pelicans will be for the 8th seed in the 2022 NBA Playoffs.
The winner of this game will face the one-seed Phoenix Suns in the first round. George is the team’s best player and will be sorely missed in the winner-take-all game. Injuries slowed Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers’ entire season this year.
This positive test came at an inconvenient time for both George and the Clippers. George averaged 24.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 2.2 steals per game in 31 games this season.
He paired those numbers with a 42.1 percent field goal percentage and a 35.4 percent three-point percentage. The Clippers have competed in games without George this season, but they are a better team when he is on the court. New Orleans will try to take advantage of the Clippers’ disadvantage.
The Los Angeles Clippers have had a difficult season, but if they can win this game, they may be able to get Paul George back for game one against the Phoenix Suns. The matchup will be difficult, but the Clippers have shown that they are more than capable of digging deep this season.
