A Veteran Quarterback Has Been Signed By The Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have re-signed another veteran quarterback.

The Buccaneers re-signed backup Ryan Griffin, which isn’t quite on the same level as Tom Brady‘s decision to end his brief retirement.

Since joining Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015, Griffin has been a spectator on the sidelines. However, in his NFL career, he has only appeared in two games, both in 2019. He threw for 18 yards on two of his four attempts.

Griffin spent two years on the New Orleans Saints’ practise squad as an undrafted free agent before landing in Tampa Bay.

He was inactive during the team’s Super Bowl run in 2020, but he was crucial in safeguarding an inebriated Brady during the championship celebration.

Tampa Bay’s current quarterbacks are Brady and Kyle Trask, both 32 years old. If something happens to the seven-time Super Bowl champion, Trask, who was selected in the second round last year, will most certainly receive the first shot.

If the Buccaneers don’t bring back Blaine Gabbert or find another understudy with more in-game experience, Griffin might be able to avoid being relegated to the practise squad, where he was last season.
